- The Nice Côte d'Azur airport has the distinction of being in town and along the mouth of the Var. This situation produces a powerful contrast between natural and artificial, between the preserved character of the river and the future of the built development and airport platform. This parking project aims to link these two worlds. Building material and color is reminiscent of the water fluidity in the Var. The reinforced glass and water vary together according the sunlight above, the wind, and the seasons. The dense volume abstractly masks other structures and reduces the heterogeneity of the landscape, giving it unity and calm. From the point of view of the traveler, slightly sloping translucent facades, both massive and light, give an oracular presence to the parking lot. The project is revealed gradually, in the sight of the car ramps, followed by a central opening that allows access inside the building. Exiting Terminal 2, the intertwining ramps depict the movement of automobiles while representing the mineral character and dynamics of this part of the site.
- L’aéroport de Nice côte d’azur présente la particularité d’être en ville et de longer l’embouchure du Var. Cette situation inédite produit un contraste puissant entre naturel et artificiel, entre le caractère préservé de la rivière et la densité bâtie des aménagements de la plate-forme aéroportuaire. Le projet de parking vise à établir un lien entre ces deux mondes. Couleur et matière du bâtiment évoquent l’eau du Var, sa fluidité. La peau de verre armé et l’eau varient de concert en fonction de la lumière, de la nature du ciel, du vent, des saisons. Depuis le pont Napoléon III, le projet prolonge le Var et sa rive fortement boisée, à l’intérieur du site. Le volume dense et énigmatique masque les autres constructions, atténue le caractère hétérogène du paysage en lui conférant calme et unité. Depuis le rond point du voyageur, les façades légèrement inclinées et translucides, à la fois massives et légères, confèrent une présence inhabituelle au parking. Le projet se révèle progressivement, à la vue de son jeu de rampes automobiles, puis un peu plus loin, lorsque l’échancrure centrale permettra au regard de pénétrer à l’intérieur de l’édifice. Au sortir du Terminal 2, les entrelacs des rampes mettent en scène le mouvement des automobiles et affirment le caractère minéral et dynamique de cette partie du site.
