Description
Ostrava is an industrial town in the northern eastern part of Czech republic, based of coal mining and steel production for last 200 years. The main problem of Ostava is the high rate of unemployment, low education level and population decrease.

The project is situated in the area of Vítkovice, the coal mine industrial complex right in the centre of the town. In these days the production of steel and machinery is reduced almost to none, the pipes and mine building are rusted and almost ruined. The area suffers from separation form the rest of the town, provind by the fence and highways, cutting the town. The complex is considering by inhabitants of Ostrava as their landmark, but they can´t enter this area, because of the the security reason.

The projects brings new "high lines" to the town. It uses the existing pipes and offers to build the walkways and cycling paths on top of them. It also rebirths existing mine buildings and turns them into new housing, office buildings, museums, schools, activity centers and parking houses. The main purpose is to connect Vítkovice with the neiborhood and attract young people to this area by the means of building "new Vítkovice".
