  • NABITO DOMUS AQUAE

TERMAL COMPLEXCLUB  and leisure  facilities, Roma, Italia. Construction siteopening : Febraury 2010  . Assigned Typology: PrivateAssigned Task: Preliminary, final, and executiveproject design, site supervision, and security at design and execution of work.Budget: €2.966.400,00     Domus AquaeOur Client has to be courageous and brave for theyhave, in our opinion, a great opportunity. They also carry great responsibility as they try tobuild, face to face with the history of one of the most important civilisationsof the world: The Roman Civilisation. We propose a reinterpretation of particular elementsof the Roman lifestyle that we believe have not changed over time. We aim to re-enliven the spirit and essence of TheRomans and try to give a timeless space, a space of OTIUM, the Virtus Quieti. A Space of adulation, a space to relax, to celebrate,to relate, to be naked and to be different. We have studied maps, plans and drawings of the oldRoman TERMAE and the functions of the Domus. Through doing so we havediscovered that The Romans were more contemporary than we are, theirlife-styles simultaneously, complex , serious and recreational.  We are fascinated by their urban planning and blownaway by the scale of their buildings. If you think today of the difficulties imposed byvarious laws on building in Rome, it seems ridiculous. Rome has everything; itis one of the most contemporary cities without contemporary Architecture andUrbanism. Rome is autonomous. It is the eternal city. Images will explain the project and process of thisMinuscule Reinterpretation of The Roman Spirit in more detail which we havecalled ‘The Domus Aguae’. The Domus Aquae is adjacent to The Coliseum and northof the The Old “TERME DI TRAIANO” in The COLLE OPPIO. We have followed the example of the Roman domusproposing two distinct areas: the Hortus and Balneum. Within these we aim tocreate a multifunctional space where you could pass an hour, a day or a week. ALiving Space, a space to eat, to smell, to hear, to pass through, a path ofwellness, to relax, unwind and forget.
