Morning Star School
- MORNING STAR SCHOOL
Trianon, Mauritius - Completed: Sep 2011Area: 1,672sqmDesigned to accommodated approximately 200 primary / secondary students and staff. The concept was to locate the classrooms to the perimeter of the site oriented towards large courtyards and play areas at the centre. Classrooms and administration rooms were designed to maximise natural cross ventilation and minimise heat gain. Dual-aspect classrooms open onto courtyards to the front and gardens to the back. A large stone entrance wall and extensive landscaping creates a pleasant approach to the building, and large skylights and landscaped interior patios form the spine of the central administration building. The project was designed to a modest budget and vibrant colours are used to create visual interest.
