  • Lexhold Technology Center - Building A
    Lexington, KY
  • Lexhold Technology Center Building A is intended to be the first of two sister buildings at the University of Kentucky's Coldstream technology park.  The building is a five-story, steel-framed office building that utilizes prefabricated concrete panels and custom glazing to achieve its high-tech look.  The building was designed using Revit 8 beginning with the schematic phase and well into construction documents.
  • Another amazing rendering by Joseph Tiu using the schematic Revit model in VIZ.  The horizontal mullions in this view were altered later in the project to save money but the cable supported "spider" glazing at the atrium managed to stay in the project.
  • Rendering by Joseph Tiu
  • Another rendering by Joseph Tiu showing the sister buildings together.  This view was made using Building A and mirroring it since Building B was not modeled.
  • View of the Revit model during early construction documents.  This view includes the linked 3D CAD data from the structural engineer (Doug Fitzpatrick)
  • Another view of the Revit model with the structural data linked in.
  • An exploded axonometric of the floor plans I made using the Revit model and Photoshop.
  • View of the completed building showing the "curved" glazing with the custom horizontal mullions.
  • Another view of the completed building on the interior courtyard side.  The glazing is actually flat panels in segmented mullions.  The sunset appears pixelated in the reflection!
  • At the ends the glass wedge floats out from the main mass of the building.  This is where the use of nearly clear glass really works.  Not all the tenants shared the owner's vision of a transparent building...
