Idle Rocks House
- Idle Rocks House
Langland Bay - South Wales - Hyde + Hyde Architects recently completed the following contemporary house, at Langland Bay, South Wales.
Unrelenting wind and winter ocean swell has created a rugged landscape that is defined by castles, medieval churches, iron age fortifications and sandy beaches.
Along this coastline lies Idle Rocks. An existing quintessential 1960's modern house, perched high on a hill with panoramic views of the ocean.
Located within a conservation area the existing house had been neglected for many years. Its new owners had approached us to revitalize and breathe life into the existing structure.

The sky frame occupies the dual role of elongating the front elevation, creating a heightened sense of drama and directional orientation, while symbolising the poetic connection between building and sky.
